The Asian Association for Public Administration (AAPA) was established in 2010 with the aim to expand and improve research and academic exchange on public administration and public policy in the Asian region. Prior to the official establishment of the Asian Association for Public Administration (AAPA) in 2010, a number of Asian scholars formed the Asian Public Management Forum (APMF) and had annual meetings for ten years from 2001, which paved the way for the establishment of AAPA. Since its foundation in 2010, the AAPA has convened 13 international annual conferences and has entered into memorandum of understanding with 18 partners in 16 different countries. The United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) granted Special Consultative Status to AAPA in 2016.
